CHURCH CAMP!!!
Hey guys.... Been busy, with EXAMS and CAMP!!! I think I got sunburnt... Anyways...
Church camp:
- Date: 28-30 May 2010
- Theme: Love in Unity
- Speaker: Pastor Steven Low
-Program: Spiritual, Recreation and Sport Activities

Here's the schedule, just so you know =)

May 28, Friday (Day 1)
2.00-3.00 pm Check-In
3.00-3.30 pm Tea Fellowship
3.30-3.40 pm Briefing by Camp Commandant (Uncle David Kek)
3.40-4.00 pm Welcome program (by Pari and Ivan *and I think other youths*) -
P.S> We were divided into teams-Asher, Zebulun, Issachar,Gad... *sorry, can't remember all the group names*
Team leaders*If I could remember, may not be correct due to my Short Term Memory Loss*
-Uncle Chow Meng Hin
-Aunty Bee Bee
-Aunty Sharon
-Aunty Bee Gaik
-Uncle Teng Kee
-Aunty Irene
-Pari
-Sorry, I can't remember more...
Anyways, during this activity, each team was given a packed-up-in-plastic-bags-frozen-T-shirts for the team to defrost as quick as possible and get the shirt out. The team had to put the shirt on one member *or the team leader*.
Everyone had to find means to crack the ice without using the pavements. Many took the empty teapots left from the tea fellowship to collect water, some took bricks that were lying around, my team even took a garbage bin to melt the ice!!
But I saw Uncle Kok Leong wearing the shirt , with holes due to the pulling of the members. His team won, just so you know.
Oh yeah, and all the activities started late. So the time may not be accurate.
4.00-5.30pm Activity: Photo-Hunt (Pari and youth)
>Still in groups, each team leader was given a list of things to take picture with. We were to be creative. After everything has been taken, each group will upload their pictures in the laptops in the sanctuary to determine the winners.
5.30-6.30pm Rest and clean up
6.30-7.30 pm Dinner
>Oh yeah, Uncle David Kek will blow the whistle to kinda like round everyone up for the activity. He says its like a "sorry, excuse me" way of getting everyone's attention.
>Dinner was free sitting. We had green veggie, cauliflower and cabbage dish, fried chicken, watermelon, rice, some curry thing and soup. Awesome.
8.00-8.15pm Keynoet speech and Prayer- Pastor Soong
8.15-8.45 pm Worship: Led by Edward Tan and Team
>the winner of the photo hunt was announced. Aunty Chris's group won.
8.45-9.45pm Message by Pastor Steven Low- Topic: Unity in Purpose. If you'd like to hear the sermons during the camp, please find Aunty Fay Khim to get the cd.
9.45-10.15pm Small Group Time (Pari & Group Leaders)
>There were three questions, members were to reflect and share after what the pastor had preached.
10.15-10.45pm Supper (Coffee, Tea and noodles were served)

The youths were awake till the wee hours of the morning(except me cause I was sleeping with the aunties and kids). Some playing basketball, some chatting, some singing...

May 29, Saturday (day Two)
7.30-8.30am Small Group Devotion & Personal Quiet Time (Technically it was quiet time.)
8.30-9.30am Breakfast (nasi lemak, bread- topped either with butter, jam or/and kaya, coffee and tea)
9.30-9.40am Warm-up and Get Ready
9.40-10.10am Worship Led by Chui Wen and Team
10.30-11.30am Message by Pastor Steven Low- Topic: Unity in Love
11.30-12.30pm Small Group Time
>There were three questions, members were to reflect and share after what the pastor had preached.
12.30-1.30pm Lunch (Rice, omelet, long bean, papaya and I can't remember what else)
1.30-3.00pm Free and Easy (My group used the time to practice the presentation themed Unity in Love that night, others did whatever they liked - beach, sleep...)
3.00-3.30pm Tea break (some hard fried thing, kuih and coffee and tea)
3.30-5.30pm Mini Olympics (at the beach)
>P.S. This will be very long, but I guess I'll type it out anyway as a way to relieve my exam stress XD

1) Teams select 5 members for this game. When the whistle is blown, three balloons will be blown by the members of the team. Once done, one member walks/hops/whatever way to the opposite site with a balloon under each arm and a balloon between the legs. Aunty Soh Cheng joined this activity as well, what team spirit!!

2)Teams select 5 members for this game(can interchange with other members who didn't take part in the first one). All members have to lie/kneel with the head to the ground. The last one gets up and jumps over the other members, and lie/kneel again after jumping over the last crouching member. It continues until the team have reached the other side. The leader have to run to Adrian at the starting side to report the team as 1st/2nd...

3)Teams select 3 members for this game. (Again, can interchange with other members who didn't take part in the first one/second one). According to teams, each member throws a balloon filled with sand balls as far as they can. Benjamin Sim threw the farthest.

4)Teams select 5 members for this game. (Again, can interchange with other members who didn't take part in the first one/second one/third one). All the members line up in one line. All the right legs of all the members were tied up. The same goes for the left legs. (Kinda like a caterpillar). My team couldn't go on as my legs were tied up. Oh well. Then, teams were to walk to the opposite side and back.

5)Teams select 5 members for this game. (Again, can interchange with other members who didn't take part in the first one/second one/third one/fifth one) Each member had to run to the other side, pick up the stick on the floor and with the head on the top of the stick, spin the stick around for five times(I guess they were trying to make players dizzy) and run back.

The results were known later.

5.30-6.30pm Rest and Clean up.
>since this was after the mini olympics, many(mostly youth) stayed at the beach to play.

6.30-7.30pm Dinner (Toufu, rice, honeydew, green vege, sweet sour fish, chicken with chili, and I can't remember what else)

8.00-8.15pm Warm-up and get ready
>Teams used this time to practice the performance I mentioned earlier

8.15-10.15pm Evening Program
>The results of
>It was the Cornerstone's Got Talent. Uncle Polly sang a couple of songs to hype us up. Then it came to performance time.
>my group sang "I Love You" song from Barney and "We are Family"-edited and cut short.
>Uncle Chow's group was hilarious. It started with 5 people- the liar, backstabber, gao-si guan(s*** stirrer) and another 2 more I can't remember. Then Barry (the cupid) shoot his arrow at each one of them - Daniel took the arrow and "stabbed" it at each of those mentioned and stick a heart while Nicholas tore the paper which wrote their characteristics.
>Uncle Kok Leong's group had a guy named Reuben(I think it was their group's name as well), and his whole family went hiking. Uncle Kok Leong, the so called long enemy, came and placed a bomb on Reuben. The family members each begged the enemy - Uncle James, the father, aunty Fay Khim, the mother in law, Uncle Gary, the father and I can't remember who else- but failed to save Reuben. Soon the bomb was up. But it did not blast.
>Uncle David Thein's group was hilarious. Uncle David Kek was reading the bible while the drums were played, and aunty Janet and a few others were singing "One Voice"-the camp's theme song. Uncle David Thein started to rap. It was messy and LOL.
>Jia Ying group was hilarious too. Jia Ying acted as the emo girl and an angel came and lifted her spirit. Uncle Terry was a stressed out man. Two angels came and lift his spirits up. We "flew" away. And more, but I can't remember.
>Edward's group was funny. Pastor Soong's wife and Uncle Alan Mok were "husband and wife". One day, Uncle Alan said he wanted Bak Kut Teh for breakfast. His "wife" said no. Its so funny, but SORRY!! I have to finish up in a minute or two...

10.15-10.45pm Supper

May 30, Sunday (Day Three)
8.00-8.30am Quiet Time
8.30-9.00am Breakfast
9.00-10.00am Message from camp commandant. Sunday Worship led by Polly Lo and Team
10.00-11.00am Message by Pastor Steven Low. Topic :Unity in Ministry
>He ended with the song "Go the distance" from the movie Hercules
11.00-11.30am Tea Fellowship
11.30-12.15am Small Group time.
12.15-12.45pm Closing and wrap up by Pastor Soong
>Everyone was given a chance to voice out their views on what they gained during the camp and ways to increase numbers
>Uncle Alan Mok thanked everyone involved
>Group photo was taken

12.45-1.15 Lunch (Rice, banana, cabbage vege, and I can't remember what)
1.15pm Check out
>by the way, the waves were AWESOME on our last day. I know, cause I went down to the beach as many times as I could that day. Simply awesome. Besides, it was quiet and peaceful =)

Oki, just to end, I'm just gonna say CAMP ROCKed. Can't wait for the next camp =)
Sorry couldn't give EVERYTHING in detail.

God Bless,
Brenda :D (I'm gonna copy this to my blog, its been dead too =X)

Something to 'revive' the 'dead'
Hey guys!! Considering the last post was like... 2 months ago.... I thought I'll share a bit on what's happening.....

1) Gathering!!
- Last Saturday we(the youth plus all the aunties and uncles-advisors) had a gathering at Adam's house. The dinner was simply scrumptious considering it was a pot-luck and the yummy non-alcoholic drink that was practically finished after the party. The reason for this gathering was to reinstate the cell groups. (The youth cell groups had stopped for some time). Now, instead of just one group, we have 2 - Those in college and those still in Secondary schools. This week was the first meeting for both.

2)Bryan just came back from NS
-According to Pastor Soong, he lost 11kg!! IMO, something most of us will never have lost within 3 months.

3) The college near the church
-Taylors is going to up and running soon, and I believe we need prayers for our church to be spiritually strong and welcome these youths.

Okay, I guess that's all I remember (I have short term memory loss =X)... Enjoy your weekend!!

God bless,
Brenda

VBS Truth Trackers
Hey! I was just wondering why no one posted any pics on VBS. Only then i realised that I was having them. We had a blast during the 4 days. It was fun! But... Exhaustion, back aches, sweat, shouting everywhere. You name it. It was not easy. But God has blessed us soooo much and helped us to make this VBS a success. Praise the Lord! So, here are some pics of what happened.

Every morning, the kids will read the pledges - Malaysian flag, Christian flag and the Bible

Adam is our worship leader, accompanied by our singers/dancers

There is Adam, bribing the kids with candies/ice-breaking.

Oh when the saints go marching in...

The kids dance and sing along. WOW, you should have seen them. So cute, seriously!

The youth with the 2 adorable little girls =)

Aunty Pat's class - Trackers (10-13)

Benjamin's class - Adventurers (4-6) Haha Pr Tim is so awesome!

The couch people...

Our principal dozing off... while Brenda is working hard behind the computer

Refreshments outside the classrooms

Everyone's favourite time - LUNCH!!!

The kids lining up for games. It was not easy to handle. At all. I saw Brenda yelling her head off.

Treasure Hunt. We dug the trees, yeah we really dug the trees! for the kids to find some chunk of handmade plaster of paris.... and then proceed to smash them open (heart breaks~) to look for the 10 commandments.

Game involving water = messy + fun

Art and Craft time!

Artsy Fartsy Stuffs.... All of the masterpieces (Both kids and adults) all there.

I'll be posting more tmr. Right now, I gtg sleep. Mum's bugging.
Marissa =)

Just thought of sharing some vids...
Hey, the blog seems dead for... 2weeks?? so I thought I'd just come in and share some stuff with whoever is reading this...

~I'm all hyped up for VBS!!! Well, technically its because my exams are over, anyways.... back to the topic...~

Well, I've found a few songs which are quite meaningful, and they do have a good vid too, so I thought, why not share with others?? And the next thing I thought of was this blog... anyway, enjoy!!!

Jonny Diaz - More Beautiful You
The video (or rather the song) tells about girls trying to be who they're not by always thinking they were too fat etc. and always tries to get attention. However, the song tells us that God loves us just the way we are - beautifully and wonderfully made...(now that I think of it, isn't that the theme of this blog??)

Next, my favourite song at the moment, The Lost Get Found by Britt Nicole
Well, the lyrics says all... I found this vid to be, well, very very meaningful, as it kinda relates not only to me, but actually to a lot of people around me...

By Your Side - Tenth Avenue North
It felt like it was what God really is doing right now, by our side.

I Will Rise - Chris Tomlin
I especially love this verse :
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

Believe - Mainstay
I love this line :"Even in my darkest hour, I will believe" cause I think that most of us, we forget God in our "darkest" hour, and sometimes, we just need something or someone to remind us that God is there to help, if we just - believe.

Well, that's about it, folks!! I gotta do some preparation + planning for VBS, so, you get the picture...

Things we could pray for VBS:
1) Safety
Safety for both staff and kids before, during and after VBS.

2) Preparation
Pray for everything to go by smoothly, and for God's purpose be fulfilled.

3) Lots of participants!!
Like the saying goes :" The more the merrier" right?? so lets pray for lots of kids to come and join us this year!!

4) Help
There's still lots of things to be done, example: Deco which will be done this Saturday, and we'll need as much help as we can to get it all done!!

5) VBS itself!!
Pray for the teachers, so that they will be able to get the message of God to them (considering as they are kids, the teachers may end up spending most of the time trying to get them to keep quiet, like in Sunday School). And also pray for the kids, so that they will be able to grasp God's word by the end of VBS.

Well, I guess that's all... If I were to go on, there would be so many things to pray for, but I believe that all we can do is pray, and leave the rest in God's hands. Holidays are on the way for primary and secondary students, enjoy the holidays people!! And let us all get hyped up to spread God's word!!!

Signing off - Brenda XD
